Terms of Service for DriveAssist
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "Driver", "you") and Salina Labs ("Salina Labs", "we", "us", or "our") governing your installation, access to, and use of the DriveAssist mobile application ("Application", "Service").
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using DriveAssist, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must not install or use the Application.
1. Driver Responsibility & Distraction Policy
DriveAssist is engineered to minimize driver distraction through hands-free offline speech commands and organized cockpit dashboard tiles. By using DriveAssist, you agree to the following operational commitments:
- Pre-Drive Configuration: You must configure destinations, pinned places, emergency contacts, habit thresholds, and audio preferences before shifting your vehicle into gear or putting the vehicle in motion.
- Traffic Law Superiority: Local motor vehicle codes, statutory speed limits, road signs, and police instructions always supersede any telemetry readout, speed estimate, road hazard badge, or navigation suggestion displayed by the Application.
- Sole Liability for Violations: You assume sole legal and financial responsibility for any citations, speeding fines, penalties, toll charges, or vehicle impoundment fees incurred while operating your vehicle.
2. Open-Source Map Data, Road Hazard Telemetry & Proactive Route Recommendations (Informed Consent & Risk Acknowledgment)
DriveAssist integrates community-maintained open geospatial data from OpenStreetMap, Overpass API, Project OSRM, Nominatim, and Open-Meteo to display road-following routes, posted speed limits, speed cameras, school zones, traffic calming, railway crossings, construction/road closures, and proactive commute briefings. Before enabling or relying upon the Cortex & Route Recommendation system, you must explicitly review and accept the in-app Route & Habit Recommendation Consent and agree to the following terms:
- Inherent Risks of Crowd-Sourced Open Data: You understand and acknowledge that OpenStreetMap, Overpass API, and OSRM data are crowd-sourced and maintained by public contributors. Such data may be incomplete, delayed, outdated, erroneous, or missing recent road closures, temporary construction zones, detours, one-way restrictions, weight/height limits, or newly posted speed limits.
- Customizable Thresholds & Advisory Briefings: DriveAssist allows you to configure your preferred Habit Confidence Threshold (default 50%) and Route Delay Sensitivity (default +20%) under Control Center → Cortex → Privacy & Controls. When a learned route exceeds your threshold and open-map or weather telemetry indicates a delay or hazard along your usual corridor, DriveAssist reports what the open data indicates strictly as an informational advisory.
- Explicit Driver Choice ("Keep Usual Route" vs. "Use Recommended Route"): DriveAssist never overrides your judgment or forces a route change. Every proactive route alert asks you whether you wish to continue on your usual route or launch a recommended alternative route. Whichever option you choose, you make that routing decision voluntarily and at your own sole risk.
- Mandatory Independent Verification: You must always independently verify physical road signs, lane markings, weather conditions, and traffic signals in the real world. You agree that Salina Labs is not responsible or liable for any inaccurate, delayed, or incomplete map, traffic, speed limit, or hazard report, or for any loss, delay, citation, or incident resulting from your choice of route.
3. Emergency SOS Distress Dispatch Service Limitations
DriveAssist includes an automated Emergency SOS utility designed to send distress SMS messages with your live GPS location and initiate emergency phone calls. You acknowledge and accept the following operational limitations:
- Not a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP): DriveAssist is not an official 911, 112, 999, or municipal emergency dispatch service. It does not connect directly to governmental police, fire, or ambulance dispatch centers.
- Cellular & Hardware Dependence: Dispatch reliability depends entirely on your mobile carrier's active network coverage, functional SIM card routing, SMS balance, battery power, and clear GPS satellite reception.
- Dual-SIM Routing: On dual-SIM devices, you are responsible for testing and selecting the correct Preferred SIM Slot in system settings to prevent carrier routing failures during a crisis.
- No Guarantee of Delivery: Salina Labs does not guarantee that distress SMS messages will be received without carrier transmission delays or network drops.
4. Zero-Knowledge Cryptographic Vault & Master Key Disclaimer
DriveAssist incorporates client-side AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption for private vault contacts, voice aliases, Location Hub pinned destinations, vehicle parking coordinates, custom wake words, and optional commute models:
- Exclusive User Key Custody: Vault encryption keys are generated on your physical device using the Android Keystore system. Salina Labs does not store, transmit, or possess copies of your master password or your 12-word BIP-39 recovery seed phrase.
- No Support Backdoor: Salina Labs customer support cannot decrypt your vault or recover forgotten master passwords. If you lose both your master key and your 12-word recovery seed phrase, your vault data is mathematically irrecoverable.
- Driver Responsibility for Seed Backup: You are strictly responsible for writing down and physically securing your 12-word recovery seed phrase upon vault creation.
5. Subscriptions, In-App Purchases & Billing Terms
DriveAssist offers free core functionality and optional premium subscription tiers ("DriveAssist Pro"):

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Salina Labs grants you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, install, and execute DriveAssist on compatible Android hardware:

- Open Data & Map Disclosures: Map features, road hazard annotations, road routing geometry, and point-of-interest information incorporate open data from OpenStreetMap contributors and the Overpass API under the Open Database License (ODbL) and routing algorithms from Project OSRM under the BSD 2-Clause License.
7. Account Termination & Data Deletion
You may terminate your agreement with Salina Labs at any time by uninstalling the Application:

8. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, DriveAssist is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. Salina Labs specifically disclaims:
- Any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular driving purpose, or non-infringement.
- Any warranty that GPS telemetry, speedometer readouts, weather metrics, or route calculations will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate under all atmospheric conditions.
- Any warranty that Bluetooth auto-disconnect detection or audio spectrum visualizers will function identically across all vehicle infotainment makes and models.
- Any warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of OpenStreetMap/Overpass road hazard warnings, posted speed limit tags, flash flood advisories, severe weather notifications, traffic delay estimations, or alternate route recommendations. All automated briefings are strictly advisory informational aids and do not substitute for official emergency broadcasts, visible road hazards, or driver discretion.
- Any warranty regarding the accuracy, optimal routing, or live conditions of turn-by-turn road polylines, travel duration estimates (ETA), driving distance calculations, or point-of-interest details. Road-following routing and travel times are approximations provided for navigational convenience only. Drivers remain exclusively responsible for observing physical road signs, statutory speed limits, detours, and active driving conditions.

10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Salina Labs, its affiliates, directors, and employees from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected with your vehicle operation, your route selection, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any traffic laws or rights of a third party.
